About the Department
University of Mysore is one of the leading universities in India. It was established in the year 1816. It is responsible for the spread of education ever since the days of the erst while Mysore State. At present, it is supported by a special grant by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. It is also accredited as one of best universities by NAAC.
The Department of Library and Information Science was established in 1965. Currently it is supported by UGC – SAP.The department offers four semester Choice Based MLISc programe. It also offers M.Phil and Ph.D programs. In its 45 years of history the department has organized several national/international seminar/conferences and workshops. And it is,now organizing a National Workshop on NewGenLib Open Source – Integrated Library Software (OS-ILS)
